Paris Coord?

Most of you probably don't know but next week (oh my gosh, next week?!) I'm going to Paris for a few days. The main reason is SMTOWN, a K-pop concert held by SM Entertainment featuring only their artists. This is the first time SME have even acknowledged that Europe is part of the world, so it's very exciting... not to mention I'm going to see SHINee in real life! And f(x) and Super Junior and SNSD and... well only two of DBSK ;__;

But let's not get into that.

I don't plan on wearing lolita to the concert, as I have a standing ticket and I'm prone to fainting if I overheat (haha), but on the Saturday we're planning to have a sightseeing day; the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower... and the BABY, the Stars Shine Bright store of course!

I don't know about you, but it's always been my daydream that when I finally step into a brand store with my own two feet, I'll be in full princess mode. So I'll have to pack a bit more than I'd originally planned, but it'll be worth it, right?

Anyway, here's a coord I came up with today:

Sorry for the bad quality of this picture... I don't really know what happened with that.

Anyway, you all know I'm a gothic lolita, so that was the obvious theme. And if you've been back to the beginning of this blog then you'll definitely recognise the dress--it was my first ever JSK. And it remains my favourite (even after the purchase of my first brand piece, which is actually currently for sale). I thought I'd add the black and white vertical striped leggings to give it a twist--not just your classic gothic outfit anymore, I think they bring a Burtonesque feel to it. And everyone who knows me knows my love for Tim Burton.

My chosen accessories: an oversized bow to add to the hint of playfulness; my usual black flowers as well as my new black and white glittery one; lace gloves; a huge elegantly gothic ring; pearl earrings; and my new favourite addition to my jewellery collection, my pearl rosary beads.

To finish off the outfit, I've included my beautiful Victorian style boots. I've never actually used them in a coord before, not because of lack of wanting to, it's just somehow always been inconvenient (lots of walking, snow, etc.) but now I finally can and I think they'll be perfect!

The only thing this is lacking is a blouse, but I wanted to use one with a classic high collar and sheer sleeves. Luckily, I've just won one of that very kind on ebay on the cheap! I hope it's as pretty in real life as it is in the picture!

This has been a very texty post... I am officially back!

Okay, I'm sorry, I fail!

It just seems like so much effort to keep this place updated compared to tumblr and such. Perhaps because I feel like I have to actually write something coherent here and it seems like lately my brain has turned to mush.

Or... turned mushier than it was already.

Anyway, I'm sure I can throw some pictures and paragraphs at you today!

I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned the Lolitas of Leeds here before... I know I've posted about the winter Loliday meet I arranged, and that was mostly with them, but I don't think I've ever formally talked about them. Well, now is as good a time as any, right?

The Lolitas of Leeds are, quite obviously, a group of lolitas who are based in and around the area of the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire. We meet every few weeks, whether it's a big formal gathering at some beautiful location like Harewood House (I'll talk about that later) or just a handful of us meeting at the quiet bar we've adopted in town. I guess it all started with the first meet back in August 2010, and since then our group of misfits has grown so beautifully, with more people joining us all the time!

Anyway, I've run out of brain energy again, so have some pictures!

In no particular order, because I'm lazy.

I hope I can remember to update here more often in the future. I have a few things I'd like to share, so we'll see how it goes from here!

Art for Commission!

Hello everyone~ I'm opening five commission slots, because I need to raise money for SMTown Paris (or Hyper Japan... depends on if I manage to get a ticket for SMT on tuesday ^^;;)!

Would you be kind enough to help a girl out and get something hand-drawn with love in return?

Here's what I'm offering...

Realism portraits; either pencil on a white background, or charcoal & chalk on a grey background. Can be anyone you like, just find me a reference picture to work from. £10 for A4.

B&W ink illustrations; a little something done in my own style, usually lolita-themed. We'll talk about it more in-depth if you're interested. £20 for A4.

In the same style, I can also design and make special occasion cards. £10 for a set of 20 10.5x10.5cm greeting cards, or we'll work something out about numbers/sizes/prices.
Generally you'd pay a deposit of half the price when we've agreed on the commission, and half when I've finished. I'll always send you a hard copy of the final piece if you request (presuming it's not the cards, of course).

Please leave a comment if you're interested!

EGL Sales

First off, I apologise for being rubbish and not keeping this place updated. I don't know who I'm apologising to really though, probably just myself.

Anyhow, I've just put up some items for sale on the egl_comm_sales, you can find the post here. There's a beautiful Innocent World JSK if you're interested, and some offbrand/vintage blouses, as well as some wigs.

Well, just thought you'd like to know, and to know I'm not dead/disappeared off the face of the earth. Hopefully I'll start updating again!

Don't mind me camwhoring ^^;

Finished Christmas Cards!

So a few posts back I mentioned I'd started a design for my own Christmas cards for this year. If you follow me on tumblr, you might have seen the WIPs and samples I posted as they developed.

Well here they are, finally printed and finished off with a touch of silver and gold!

I'm so pleased with the outcomes! I had suggestions to sell them, and while I love the idea that people would actually buy my work to give out as festive greetings, I don't really have the time to promote/package/send them out what with the massive amount of work I have to have done at college before the end of next week (cries).

Maybe next year, if I start earlier. But for now I'm happy just sending them out to my friends and family.

Winter Loliday 2010

Click for bigger!

A few months ago I decided to jump in the deep end and organise my first meet... and I would be daring and choose International Lolita Day, wouldn't I?

It took a lot of planning and changing and replanning and updating constantly on loligothuk, but I'm pleased to say it all went beautifully smoothly! We had 14 in attendance--including two boyfriends--and it was a sight to see on a cold winter evening. The day out included a trip to the theatre to see The Nutcracker ballet performance and afterwards a wander around the Christkindlmarkt--the German Christmas market that comes to Leeds every November-December.

It was such a wonderful day out; I met some amazing and absolutely beautiful lolitas and got to see again some I already consider good friends--Beth, Abbey and Lola.

Thank you to everybody who came! I know I'll carry memories from winter Loliday 2010 with me forever.
